And I&#8217;ve got work tomorrow morning as per usual, and I&#8217;m too tired to do a release now and bugger it all up!<\/p>\n<p>So&#8230; hey what&#8217;s that, over there?<\/p>\n<p>&lt;flees&gt;<\/p>\n<p>Yes, it looks like this deadline has sailed past us and we&#8217;re not ready to release the Mars levels just yet. It does look like a <strong>weekend release<\/strong> is on the cards though, as what&#8217;s left is not a huge amount of work. Our humble apologies for being late! But, you know, better that it&#8217;s\u00a0<em>good<\/em>, rather than a bug-ridden heap of poo, I think.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what we&#8217;ve got so far, <strong>new-feature wise<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add keyboard tooltips to &#8220;shop&#8221; popup<\/li>\n<li>Allow player to navigate back from the story screen to the level selection screen<\/li>\n<li>Anatomical research now yields a +1 bonus to armour piercing for blaster rounds<\/li>\n<li>Back button on research<\/li>\n<li>Back button on story screen<\/li>\n<li>Bezerk now instantly reloads all turrets<\/li>\n<li>Building things on top of aliens now damages the building (and may blow it up completely before it&#8217;s even built)<\/li>\n<li>Collectors cheaper<\/li>\n<li>Conditional stories that appear depending on what you have or have not researched<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty adjusted at start of level based on number of attempts<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty attenuation now is itself attenuated as gidrahs are destroyed<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty now calculated based on current cash and value of buildings in play<\/li>\n<li>Disruptor now has range increased very slightly by scanners<\/li>\n<li>Earth boss guest appearance on Mars 5<\/li>\n<li>Erase attempts numbers past last ended level<\/li>\n<li>Increase boss speed and hitpoints<\/li>\n<li>Increase memory: 160mb max heap<\/li>\n<li>Lasers and rockets now have greater initial range and greater range increase per scanner<\/li>\n<li>Lasers no longer sweep: they were far too powerful!<\/li>\n<li>Levels now randomised completely every game<\/li>\n<li>Make levels where aliens come from all sides slightly easier<\/li>\n<li>Max level only set if a level is completed<\/li>\n<li>Mid-spawners<\/li>\n<li>Mines, rockets, smartbombs and disruptors now ignore armour<\/li>\n<li>Multiple stories per level<\/li>\n<li>Nerf turret fire rate ever so slightly<\/li>\n<li>Nerfed droids fire rate<\/li>\n<li>Optimise laser beam to use quadtree for collision detection<\/li>\n<li>Optimise turret target acquisition to use quadtree and delay retries<\/li>\n<li>Show keyboard tooltips a bit longer<\/li>\n<li>Silos cheaper<\/li>\n<li>Spiders<\/li>\n<li>Ticks<\/li>\n<li>Turrets to target aliens they&#8217;re better at killing preferentially<\/li>\n<li>Wraiths fade in slowly as they approach their target<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the <strong>bugs fixed so far<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed: all known exceptions except GL drivers and saved game problem<\/li>\n<li>Fixed: Destroyed buildings not updating nearby buildings (silos + factories?)<\/li>\n<li>Fixed: Laser offset<\/li>\n<li>Fixed: Money displayed on Moon level select is actually Earth money &#8211; should be Moon money!<\/li>\n<li>Fixed: Turrets show wrong range in ghost mode<\/li>\n<li>Fixed: a laser sometimes keeps on missing target (was actually just not hurting it)<\/li>\n<li>Fixed: can build weaker barricades on top of stronger barricades &#8211; oops!<\/li>\n<li>Fixed: gidrahs speed up when the level ends<\/li>\n<li>Fixed: ingame menu resets mouse pointer<\/li>\n<li>Fixed: map generates forever<\/li>\n<li>Fixed: Fullscreen\/large\/med\/small window selection is buggy<\/li>\n<li>Fixed: turrets can now see aliens past obstacles which can be shot over (such as craters)<\/li>\n<li>Fixed: decoys still not working<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Unfortunately, we&#8217;ve <strong>still got all this to do<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tweak stories for Earth (gidrah stats, extra story entries)<\/li>\n<li>Stories for Mars<\/li>\n<li>Mars colours<\/li>\n<li>Mars roads<\/li>\n<li>Mars boss death animation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>and these <strong>really important bugs<\/strong> to fix:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blast mines set off straight away when painting them<\/li>\n<li>Ticklets can spawn on top of buildings, and subsequently get stuck<\/li>\n<li>Occasional strange lag\/slowdown<\/li>\n<li>Level generated without any crystals<\/li>\n<li>Strange problems with pathfinder killing aliens<\/li>\n<li>Pathfinder seems to be allowed to overrun its maximum think time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yes, it looks like this deadline has sailed past us and we&#8217;re not ready to release the Mars levels just yet.
